Telemedicine and Telecounseling

Telemedicine

I personally hate going to the doctor and I think most people do.  The worst part is feeling sick or suffering with symptoms and having to hear the next opening to see your doctor is in one to four weeks.  Inevitably, if you make the appointment; the day comes and whatever was bothering you has healed up. The visit is a complete waste and time and money.

You had to deal with the problem without any treatment, maybe even missing some work or family commitments because of it. Depending on where you live, you may have two other options.  One is going to the hospital emergency room which is out of the question due to cost. The final option is if you live within a reasonable drive (and you are up to it), you can go to an urgent care clinic where you get to sit with scores of sick people waiting for your turn while struggling with your symptoms.

Honestly, for the most common ailments, the doctor prescribes one of several common medications and off you go to the pharmacy.

Telemedicine is now a reality and anyone with a phone or computer can be speaking with a doctor in as little as 15 minutes. You avoid the doctor’s office, the sick people, the waiting rooms, and the drive. If a prescription is required, it will be sent to your preferred pharmacy for pickup or delivery the same day when your needing it most.

The commonly treatable medical conditions via telemedicine are:

Allergies, Bronchitis, Cold, Cough, Diarrhea, Ear Ache, Eye Infection, Fever, Flu / Influenza, Headache, Pneumonia, Rash / Skin Infection, Sinus Infection, Small Wound, Stomach Ache, Upper Respiratory Infection, Vomiting, Yeast Infection

There is no per-visit fee or co-pay. You pay a low monthly subscription and you can call as often as you need to.

Telecounseling

This is another interesting and extremely valuable service. I know many people who have gone through some very tough emotional issues and truly needed a professional to speak with. Finding a mental health counselor that is taking new patients and that can see you in less than four weeks is almost impossible in many areas.

Just like being unable to see a medical doctor, having an emotional crisis isn’t something you can put on hold until the appointment comes around. I often wonder how many fights, assaults, suicides, murders, and general mental breakdowns that led to losing jobs, marriages, or child custody that could have been avoided if only there was someone ready and available to speak to.

With telecounseling, licensed therapists with years of experience are available to treat a wide range of conditions including (but not limited to): Anxiety, Bulimia, Depression, Grieving/Loss of a Loved One, Insomnia/Trouble Sleeping, Mood Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Relationship Issues, Stress, Substance Abuse, and Teen/Parenting Issues.

You can speak with a Masters-level counselor as many times as you need (for pre-clinical sessions) during the term of your subscription. Counseling sessions will be scheduled as clinically-appropriate and determined by a counselor.

If you are interested in telemedicine or telecounseling, I can provide more details, give you a quote and get you enrolled. Just give me a call or contact me via this website.
